Family Life Ministries at St. Vincent Ferrer offers many different ways to get involved, deepen your prayer life, socialize, and support each other and the local community.
Community – Service – Spirituality
Please contact the parish office if you or anyone in your family is interested in serving in the ministries directly supporting weekend liturgies.
Altar Servers are chosen from among the faithful who display a desire to serve in a more intimate way during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and perform the assigned duties with attention, dignity, and reverence.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
In order that the faithful, who are in the state of grace and who, with an upright and pious disposition, wish to share in the Sacred Banquet, may not be deprived of this sacramental help and consolation, it has seemed appropriate to the Holy Father to establish extraordinary ministers, who may give Holy Communion to other faithful.
The ministry of Gift Bearer is a time during the Mass when anyone, no matter what your level of involvement, can actively take part in the Mass. No special training is required to serve in this ministry, just your commitment to serve at any given Mass of your choosing while dressing in you “Sunday’s best!”
The Ministers of Hospitality welcomes our parishioners at all weekend Masses and other liturgical celebrations. The ministers also prepare the presentation of the gifts, the collection, ensure an orderly Communion procession and distribute the weekly bulletin and programs for the liturgy.
The ministry of Lectors calls us to be servants of the Living Word of God. In proclaiming the readings at the liturgy, the lector does more than simply read. A lector’s spirituality must include an understanding of Holy Scripture as God’s Living Word made present to mankind throughout history, but most fully present in the person of Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh.
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song. Ministers encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship, provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift, serving in an integral part of the worship.
Please contact the parish office if you or anyone in your family can contribute to the following pastoral leadership councils.
The Pastoral Council of St. Vincent Ferrer works in collaboration with the pastor in his care of, and for the parish community. The Council offers advice; guidance and collective wisdom to the pastor, helping him make informed decisions that affect the spiritual and physical growth in the parish. It consists of elected and selected members. The Council aspires to cultivate an atmosphere of respect, and openness to challenges, and opportunities that God places before us for compassion, growth, and ministry in our parish and beyond.
The Finance Council is an integral part of the Stewardship responsibilities of the parish. The council consists of selected members to assist the pastor in his deliberation and decision-making process in order to serve the needs of the parish through prudent administration of its resources and funds. The committee functions within the guidelines of the Financial Policies and Procedures for Parishes published by the Diocese of Palm Beach. The Finance Council is a consultative group that interacts closely with the Pastoral Council and Stewardship Council to assure the pastor and parish membership that finances are available and are used prudently to support parish goals and objectives.
The major responsibilities of St. Vincent Ferrer stewardship program fall under the purview of the Pastor and the Director of Stewardship. The council’s mission is to create awareness of God’s gifts of Time, Talent and Treasure, and to encourage that use to the best of one’s ability for the good of the parish. The Council works through the various committees and ministries of St. Vincent Ferrer to help its parishioners better understand that these gifts have been given by the Lord, at no cost, and should be returned to the Lord in abundance.
